February 16, 2009 Thanks to Jim Brewer, who recently sent us an incredible unscoped WKLO aircheck he recorded on Sunday, October 13, 1974 while a freshman at the University of Louisville. Even though we had to snip out some of the music for online presentation, all the jock breaks, commercials and "station stuff" (including some wonderful Mike Rivers production) are left intact for your listening pleasure in our first 1080WKLO.com aircheck of Fleetwood Gruver.

January 25, 2009 A Big 1080 salute to Big Bill Love for sending us our first Radio WKLO aircheck of Charlie Knox. Enjoy the authentic 1966 Top 40 goodness here.

December 20, 2008 Thanks to Ray Redman for the August 1966 aircheck of Johnny Randolph plus the mid-60s session recording of Paul Revere & The Raiders doing an ID for JR.

October 22, 2008 Former WKLO DJ Joe London sat in with WAKY-FM's Johnny Randolph on September 19th, and thanks to "big1080" we have an audio recording of the event. Experience it here. We also added a new photo of Joe at the bottom of Photo Page 14.

December 30, 2007 A 10,000 watt ten-eighty thank you to John Frank of Oakland, California who surprised us with text-based versions of dozens of WKLO Music Surveys from the 1960s. Not only does this let the sight-impaired with screen-reading software to enjoy the surveys, but it lets everybody scan through the years of WKLO hits (and misses) a lot quicker. September 16, 2007 Former WKLO 1969-1970 DJ Dave Carson checks in with a great letter (check his listing on the DJs page) and scans of flyers showing the late '69 WKLO DJ lineup and the WKLO state-of-the-art basement production studio. There's also a new pic of several of the 1080 jocks awarding a winner a new set of wheels. Find the photo and the flyer links on Photo Page 4.

March 31, 2007 Louisville native Bob Cline did two tours as a WKLO DJ in the 1970s, plus put in airtime at several other Derby City radio stations in the '70s and '80s. On March 16, 2007 Bob talked to us about the station that inspired him to enter the radio biz, being a Louisville radio listener in the '60s, some of the folks he worked with at the Big 1080, his mentors, and his thoughts on the state of radio today. February 16, 2007 It's the most-played WKLO jingle of the '60s...and the most requested WKLO jingle we didn't have -- until today. The famous WKLO "stab" (an edit of a sonovox cut from PAMS Series 18) is now online here. Thank you Byron Rohrig!

February 13, 2007 A great big 1080 thank you to Leonard Yates for his contributions of numerous WKLO promos and commercials from 1968 and 1969. (The tapes originally belonged to Dick Braun.) January 25, 2007 Dottie Knight not only was married to WKLO's first Top 40 PD, but she was the station's first female Top 40 DJ...a rarity in radio the late '50s and early '60s. Download our 2007 audio interview with Dottie here.

April 21, 2006 Our appreciation to Rob Calhoun for providing two 1991 Courier-Journal columns about the end of WDJX-AM (formerly WKLO, WKJJ and WCII) and the WKLO DJ Reunion Weekend. We now know what newsman Robert Paul Westpheling sounded like on WKLO in the Spring of 1970, thanks to the aircheck he's contributed.

January 27, 2006 You might not remember Steve Warren from his 1963 WKLO "Summer Fun Festival" gig, but this New Albany High School graduate remembers a lot about WKLO (and WAKY) in the early '60s. September 23, 2005 War On The Airwaves is an article from the Scene section of the Courier-Journal from March 29, 1980. It offered a snapshot of the state of Louisville's "rock radio" (including WKLO successor KJ-100) right before 1980's Spring ratings period kicked off. Thanks to former WKLO Boss Jock Ron Lake for saving it for 25 years so we could share it with the world.

September 12, 2005 WKLO was history by 1982, but visitors to this site might be interested in the '82 Courier-Journal article "Voices In The Morning" which profiled all of Louisville's commercial radio AM drive DJs at that time -- including some with WKLO connections. Thanks to Leonard Yates for making it available for us to transcribe.
